Loss of an eye with surrounding structures (eyelids) is usually a psychologically stressful condition. Artificial replacement of lost eyes with eyelids (orbital prostheses) is possible. It consists of 2 parts: an artificial eye constructed of a special medical form of plastic, and eyelids made in most of the cases in medical grade silicone, which is a soft life like material.
